SHIPWRECK IN SHINNECOCK INLET

The Hail Mary II sank at 5 AM January 2nd, 2006. She was coming back from a successful squid run, and flipped in Shinnecock Bay, Long Island, New York.

Three crew members were tossed into the frigid waters when the boat flipped while raising it's outriggers and turning to dock. Strong winds and currents pushed the boat down in the stern.

A lucky throw of a life-preserver saved one crew, and the others made it safely to the dock.

A tough call for the boat's owner, who's in a tough to win business.
